How to Measure Yourself

For the perfect fit, use a soft measuring tape directly on your body (not over clothes). If you don't have one, a string and ruler works too. Have a friend help for more accurate results.

The 4 Key Measurements

Measurement How to Measure
Bust / Chest Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.
Waist Measure around the narrowest part of your torso, usually about 1 inch above your belly button.
Hips Measure around the fullest part of your hips, about 8 inches below your waist.
Height Stand straight without shoes. Measure from the top of your head to the floor.

Tips for Habesha Kemis Fit

  • Habesha kemis are typically made with a small amount of ease — if you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up.
  • If you plan to wear the dress with an underskirt or traditional netela, add 1–2 inches to your hip measurement.
  • Traditional full-length kemis measure approximately 55–60 inches from shoulder to hem for a 5'4" frame. Let us know your preference.
